Sadly, like all studs Lynbrook has lost some real favourite characters over the many years . All are fondly remembered and here I can share some of my memories with you with you.
Pride of place MUST go to my three top multi Champions. 1) That wonderful Fawn who took best of Breed at London when he was just 6 months - WillieMakeit.
Willie DID make it he became a quintuple Champion before his untimely death mentioned previously on this site. He was a great, very placid character & I`m sure had he survived the trauma that cost him his life he would certainly be remembered as one of the all-time greats. Next to Willie must come James Bond. a beautiful almost legendry REW named due to his ring number being 00007. He again was a sextuple champion and along with a few other top Lynbrook winners was sold to Hilary & Dave Cannon producing some lovely stock for them on which to build their stud. When Hilary decided to give up the rabbits they were taken over by Jane Duffy. I do not have any pictures of James Bond unfortunately.
The 3rd top Champion has to be `Icanhopit`. A cracking little Sooty buck who won several best in Shows including one of the first Welsh Lop Circle shows held at the Royal Welsh in 1986 under the late Meg Brown. He sired a few champions and was a lovely little character.
Another great character was the Black Butterfly Champion Rambo. He did NOT like being held down on the table and left alone would sit and pose all day.
Below are a few of the Lynbrook Champion Dwarf Lops in various colours over the years including Sooty fawns, REWs, Chins, Agouiti, Sealpoint (now Iron Grey). Blacks, Butterflies in several colours,
Coppernob, Rags, Angelina, Mandarin, Susie, Jackson Cointreau, Bimbo, Nibbles, Peri, Charles, Golda, Goldfinger, Peach, Minerva, Annie, Jasper, Phoenix, Wham, Snowball, Faith, Swansdown, Snowflake, Dove, Dreamer, Snowknight, Snowmist, Fabian, Bimbo, Hector, Mydknight, Sparkle, Sparky, Libby, Mandy, Genevieve, Blackbeard, Aderyn Du,Casper, Painted Lady, Pansy,Sandie, Percival, Sam, Sweet Sue, Thumbelina, Camilla, Wispa, Brownie Too,Clarence, These I can remember.
In Rex there were many Lynbrook champions too. The 2 multiple champions were that lovely Seal -Miss Chief and the Orange -Orange Fizz. My son had a super Chinrex Champion -Meteor. Press cutting of Lynbrook Champions shown below. There was a lovely Seal Rex Velvet Lady, Champion Arthur followed suit, my first Castor
Multiple Champion - Danny Boy, followed by Foxy. Orange Rex doe - Cherry, buck Whatsit, both progeny of Orange Fizz, Champion Duchess -Seal joined Lynbrook from Jean & Alwyn Scott as did Champion Beauty my first Ivory Satin doe & Supreme Lady a NZW from Kath Forth among other breed champions.
